Check It Out
October 2015 is Disabilities Awareness Month!
Did you know in the Library’s glass display case on the upper floor that there's a great title honoring this theme to check out? It is called, Disability and Identity : Negotiating Self in a Changing Society. It was written by Rosalyn Benjamin Darling and published in 2013. Its call number is: HV1568 .D367 2013.
This book can be found through the SWC Library’s Search the Library Catalog webpage. Just type in the title in the search box and you can find it in the results list.
This book discusses the relationship between societal views and the self-conceptions of people with mental and physical impairments. Disability and Identity examines how resilient people with disabilities are in the face of social and material barriers while describing what it means to be “different” in a changing society.
Come to the library to see more Disabilities Awareness-related titles on display this month.
Cheers!
