Website of the Week

Pew Research Center – Numbers, Facts and Trends Shaping Your World

Want to know
…social media trends in 2018?
…about public confidence levels in the Mueller investigation?
…how the U.S. views Pope Francis?
…marital status, broken down by religion, of the U.S. population?
…recent trends in motherhood and family size?

These and many, many more reports can be found in the Pew Research Center. The site is current and credible. All the sources of information are well documented and objective.

If you are writing a paper or making a presentation on a current events issue, from politics to religion to social media, I highly recommend that you check out this website. It has interesting, timely reports which are easy to read and usually have excellent infographics that will grab your attention and convey a point.

From their own words: "Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan fact tank that informs the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping the world. We conduct public opinion polling, demographic research, content analysis and other data-driven social science research. We do not take policy positions.”

So, whether for academic purposes or just to be an informed member of society, head on to the Pew Research Center. Lots of valuable information is waiting for you.

The #MeToo Movement at SWC Library

March is Women's History Month.

Stop by the Library to visit our display on the #MeToo movement.

For too long, survivors of sexual assault and harassment have been in the shadows. We have been afraid to speak up, to say ‘Me Too’ and seek accountability. For many, the consequences of doing so have been devastating.

We need a complete cultural transformation if we are to eradicate sexual assault in our lifetimes. It means we must build our families differently, engage our communities and confront some of our long-held assumptions about ourselves. ... When you hear #MeToo, will you stand up to say #NoMore?

Let’s get to work.

Tarana Burke, #MeToo Founder via www.metoomvmt.org
