Check It Out

August 2015 is American Artists Appreciation Month!

Did you know in the library’s glass display case there's a great title honoring this theme to check out? It is called, African American Art : Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights Era, and Beyond. It was written by Richard J. Powell and Virginia M. Mecklenburg. It was also published in 2012. There is one copy in the library’s Main Stacks with the call number: N6538.N5 S595 2012, but is currently housed in the library’s upper floor glass display case.

It can be found through the SWC Library’s Search the Library Catalog webpage. Just type in the title in the search box and you can find it in the results list.

This book presents a survey of African American art from the twentieth century with many works displayed at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. “African American art” also highlights many universal themes along with specific focus on the African diaspora, jazz, and the power or religion.

Come to the Library to see more American Artists Appreciation-related titles on display this month.

Cheers!
