Check It Out

African American History Month is here. Did you know in the library’s New Books collection there's a great title honoring this theme?

It's called, Freedom Dreams: the Black Radical Imagination. It's written by Robin D.G. Kelley and it was published in 2002. It is located in the library’s New Books shelves on the main floor with the call number: E185 .K39 2002. It is available for check out for four weeks with your SWC photo ID card.

It can be found through the SWC Library’s Search the Library Catalog webpage. Just type in the title in the search box and you can find it in the results list.

Freedom Dreams is also available as a free e-book to currently-enrolled SWC students and staff. Off campus access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This book is a great resource highlighting the freedom dreams found in the history of twentieth century African American intellectuals and artists, like Malcolm X. Freedom Dreams provides an insight in the intersection of black popular culture and the hope that these dreams bring.

Come to the library to see more African American history-related titles on display this month.
