Website of the Week
UNESCO's World Heritage List is a database of sites of special cultural or physical significance.
To be included in the World Heritage List, sites must be of outstanding universal value and meet specific selection criteria.
The sites are displayed on an interactive map, followed by an A-Z list by country. The list can also be displayed by region, year added to list, or A-Z by site name.
The map legend identifies the category/type of site (cultural, natural, or mixed) and denotes those sites that are in danger.
Select a site for additional images, historical overview, selection criteria, integrity/condition, management, news and more.
For even more information on some of the ancient cultural sites on UNESCO's World Heritage List, check out SWC Library's World History Ancient and Medieval Eras database!
