The Mindset Lists of American History was created at Beloit College in 1998 originally as a reminder to faculty to be aware of dated references. It quickly became an internationally monitored catalog of the changing worldview of each new college generation. Below are some interesting facts about this year’s entering college class of 2016, born in 1994:

• In these students’ lifetimes, with MP3 players and iPods, they seldom listen to the car radio. A quarter of the entering students already have suffered some hearing loss.
• Kurt Cobain, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Richard Nixon and John Wayne Gacy have always been dead.
• The Biblical sources of terms such as “Forbidden Fruit,” “The writing on the wall,” “Good Samaritan,” and “The Promised Land” are unknown to most of them.
• Bill Clinton is a senior statesman of whose presidency they have little knowledge.
• For most of their lives, maintaining relations between the U.S. and the rest of the world has been a woman’s job in the State Department.
• Women have always piloted war planes and space shuttles.

Assessing the New Health Care Law: Will it improve care and reduce spending?

"In June, the Supreme Court upheld most of the Obama administration's 2010 health care law, allowing the government to fine people who decline to buy medical insurance. But the court barred cutting off Medicaid funds for states that refuse to participate in a new program expanding health care for the poor. Some Republican governors have balked at the expanded coverage, undermining the administration's goal of adding 30 million people to the health insurance rolls. Meanwhile, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, along with many congressional Republicans, vows to repeal the entire Affordable Care Act, arguing it is too costly and abridges individual freedoms. The law's supporters, however, say its benefits already are evident, as children with pre-existing illnesses can no longer lose coverage and young adults can enroll in their parents' health plans."

Healthopedia is presented as a consumer information resource that includes comprehensive and unbiased information on over 1,500 health topics. The information is offered as an alphabetical list and comes from 70 health centers.

This site includes featured centers such as: Allergies, Diabetes, and High Blood Pressure, as well as comprehensive medical encyclopedias. In addition to the patient-friendly language of each entry, a consistent and comprehensive format is provided for readers which includes:
